BERWYN (REALISTIC KERMODE OR "SPIRIT" BEAR)
Berwyn has a total of 8 joints – 2 in the neck and one in each wrist so he can be placed in a variety of positions – sit, lie, crouch on all fours etc. These do not include standing unaided, though he will lean, particularly if you rest one of his paws on a chair arm or something at his waist height or higher. He is made from a long pile, mohair fabric made by Schulte – the mohair is very pale brown but has a darker backing fabric, 30mm long and with a lot of movement, so extremely suitable for a version of a “Spirit” or Kermode bear (These are pale but not albino versions of the American Black Bear). Berwyn’s features have been enhanced with a small amount of subtle airbrushed shading around his eyes, inner ears and pads. His head is beautifully shaped and includes a rather spectacular nose; initially embroidered in ecru thread and then tinted with fabric dyes; his ultrasuede 3D pads, have been given needle-sculpted divisions in addition to the shading for extra definition! He is stuffed with a combination of wood wool and polyester. His body contains two large growlers – so he can make himself heard when tipped forwards or backwards. Berwyn is made in our very latest design for big bears, and although he is rather stout in profile the body has been slightly elongated. He is absolutely wonderful to hug – he hugs you back! Sits 18.5” (47cm), Stands 26” (66cm) 1/1 Sold at Teddies’10 in September at Kensington
