CHA CHA (BABY PANDA LENGTH 8.5” (21.5CM))
Cha Cha is the next in our series of baby bears, but this time a panda; so making him is more complicated! The design is for a very young cub, quite floppy (like recently born baby so the joints are loose – but still firmly attached) and I wanted people to feel very protective when holding one of them. Additionally there are small magnets in the chin and the end of each limb so paws will stick together and also to the chin. This means that they can adopt a variety of incredibly endearing poses, appearing to “suck” their toe or thumb like the baby cubs they resemble. Like his predecessors, Cha Cha is made from the wonderfully soft 18mm Japanese alpaca in ivory and black. The other fabric – used for inner ears, the nose and pads is cashmere.
