NIKOLAI II
Nikolai II
Obtaining mohair that is the right colour, density and pile length for realistic bears is a perennial problem for us and we can only make the large ones when we can buy something suitable. In 2005 we obtained 3 pieces of what was technically the same colour brown but the pieces varied in shade from each other. It would have been wrong to make just one edition as if you put the bears made from the different pieces next to each other they would not be an absolutely identical colour. It would have been just as wrong to make the 3 editions as different bears. The solution was to make an edition of the same pattern in each piece of fabric and to show the similarity by the use of the same name i.e.Nikolai, but the difference by putting a number after the name, so Nikolai I, Nikolai II etc.

Nikolai II L/E 2 (both made in 2006)

The fabric used for Nikolai II was slightly redder in shade than that used for Nikolai I. For more information see 2005 Nikolai I and 2006 Nikolai III
